Izyaslav inherited in Kiev weak Vsevolod Yaroslavich, in whose reign Russia suffered from civil strife and Polovtsian raids.

The Chernigov volost he gave to his eldest son Vladimir (Monomakh). Svyatoslavich finally definitively deprived them of their hereditary possession, considering them to be outcasts, because their father occupied the throne of the throne not rightfully during the life of his elder brother.

Thanks to the victories of his son Vladimir Monomakh, he remained on the throne until his death.

Vsevolod loved education and knew 5 languages.
